McElroy Metal, based in Bossier City, Louisiana, has now added solar panels to four of its manufacturing sites. In addition to the most recent Sunnyvale project, McElroy has successfully completed solar panel installations in Peachtree, Georgia; Advancement, California and Clinton, Illinois.
“Installing solar panels on a roof with vertical joints such as the one produced by McElroy Metal is the most cost-effective way to complete a solar installation,” said Mark Rangel, executive vice president of business development and preconstruction for New Braunfels Spier Commercial & Industrial. , Texas. “We do flat roof installations, ground installations, carport installations, every type of installation imaginable and installation on a roof with vertical joints is always the most profitable.”
Spier installed a 165 kW grid-connected rooftop PV system at McElroy Metal’s Sunnyvale plant. Seraphim Energy panels were installed in a recent addition to the facility, which was topped off with 238T symmetrical raised seam panels from McElroy Metal. Panels were fastened to the ceiling with standing seams with S-5 products! The project contained 352 470 W solar panels, which will produce approximately 261,574 kWh each year. The system is estimated to reduce the facility’s grid energy use by 46%.
“We are very excited about adding solar panels to a fourth manufacturing plant,” says Ken Gieseke, vice president of marketing for McElroy Metal. “Once we did the math, we calculated the return on investment, it just made sense to install the solar panels. McElroy Metal remains dedicated to being an advocate for solar energy. “
Rangel says that local and federal incentives paid for roughly 80% of the solar installation and that the return on investment will be roughly five years, for a system that is expected to last 25 years.
“McElroy Metal has been a leading and respected manufacturer of metal roofing and components for three generations,” said Rob Haddock, founder and CEO of S-5! “Like S-5 !, they got there setting the highest standards of quality and integrity for themselves and their suppliers. As both companies are leaders in the metal construction industry, we have been privileged to work alongside McElroy in many locations, industry trade groups and supply relationships that now span nearly 40 years. They are not only a valuable S-5! customer and distribution partner, but close friends, industry advocates, allies, and activists. Two top-tier brands, McElroy and S-5 !, have raised the bar for upgrading metal roofs – and together again, with the addition of solar power to their S-5 room! Solarized project. I’m sure we both look forward to the next one. “
