Malaysia Launches Bidding For 2 GW Solar Plants

Malaysia's Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (Petra) has opened additional bidding for the development of 2,000 megawatts (MW) of solar power plants under the Large Scale Solar programme.

In a statement, Petra said there will be two packages in this round of bidding.

Package A will be for the development of ground-based solar plants with a capacity between 30 MW and 500 MW, offering a total quota of 1.5 gigawatts. Meanwhile, Package B is for the development of floating or water-based solar power plants with a capacity between 10 MW and 500 MW, with a total quota of 500 MW.

The solar power plants that will be approved are scheduled to begin operating in 2027.
